This language has been chosen as one of the 22 scheduled languages of India to preserve its popularity.

The Pahari language is based on three areas, namely Northern Pahari, Eastern Pahari, and Western Pahari. The Western Pahari is the most commonly used in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
